THE GREEN HOUSE® Residences at Stadium Place will be a unique, four-level Green House project designed in an urban setting, with a separate residence on each floor providing a home to 12 elders (including one semi-private room). It will serve 49 elders, with at least 60% of beds reserved for those with Medicaid eligibility. Porches on each side of the building will give elders a chance to enjoy the outdoors and will overlook a new playing field for area children. There will also be a lower-level with a therapy room and a beauty salon. GEDCO (Govans Ecumenical Development Corporation) is developing THE GREEN HOUSE® Residences, which will be operated by Associated Catholic Charities.
Sponsoring Organization History
GEDCO, based in Baltimore, Maryland, is an innovative, faith-based not-for-profit organization that has successfully developed a series of affordable housing projects with supportive services. THE GREEN HOUSE® Residences at Stadium Place is an important component of GEDCO’s plan to develop a mixed-income, urban retirement community with a holistic continuum of care on the site of the former Memorial Stadium. The Stadium Place campus currently includes 340 apartments for low- and moderate-income older adults, as well as a YMCA, a community-built playground, ThanksGiving Place (a meditative park), and the Ripken Youth Ball Field (a.k.a. Memorial Field at the Y). Planned market-rate apartments and condominiums and a Village Center (with a restaurant and health and wellness center) will serve residents and the surrounding community.
